This is a fun, simple, and quick project for you to give your students after they have read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.
These character wheels look impressive when the 8 wheel sections are glued together and displayed. Below is an example of this project (This photograph is a character wheel that my students did for Roald Dahl Day, so it has other characters in it).
This Charlie and the Chocolate Factory teaching resources set contains 8 characters in the character wheel project: Willy Wonka, Charlie Bucket, Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, Mike Teavee, Grandpa Joe, and the Oompa - Loompas.
This Charlie and the Chocolate Factory character wheel project measures 16 inches by 16 inches.
This project can be used as a collaborative group project, or you can give each student a character to write about and draw a picture of.
Below is an example of this project using the red templates.
This Charlie and the Chocolate Factory set contains the following:
teacher directions
first draft writing template
final draft black and white templates for 8 different characters
color final draft templates (red, blue, orange, green, pink, purple, and yellow/brown)
matching 5 page bulletin board display banner
Below are the teacher directions that are included in this set.
Below is an example of what the first draft response sheet looks like. The writing area in these rectangles matches the writing space in the final draft templates.
Cut these rectangles out, and give each student one. Students write a short description about their character. You can assign each student one character, or you can use this as a group project and assign all 8 characters to a group.
On the final draft character wheel templates, students write their description on the lines provided, and then draw and color a picture inside the triangle area of their character from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
After students have finished their projects and you have assembled the 8 pieces together, glue the title circle in the middle of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory character wheel.
There is a standard set of black and white templates in this Charlie and the Chocolate Factory teaching resources set (see examples above).
I have also made character wheel templates in the following colors: red, blue, orange, green, pink, purple, and yellow/brown. If you choose to use these colored templates, your students projects will look even more dynamic on your finished bulletin board display.
If you are using this Charlie and the Chocolate Factory resource as a group project, it would be ideal to print out different colored templates for each group.
Below is an example of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory character wheel templates in purple.
Below is an example of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory character wheel student worksheets in yellow/brown.
