Puppy Reading Sticker Charts: Do you want to give your students an extra incentive to read 15 books? These cute reading sticker charts will make your students dog-gone enthusiastic about achieving this reading goal!
These Puppy Sticker Charts provide you with everything that you need to encourage your students to read 15 books and reward them as they are making progress towards achieving this reading goal.
By using these puppy reading sticker charts and templates, you will be providing motivation and positive reinforcement for your students to read 15 books in the time period that you select.
Students will enjoy taking their completed puppy reading sticker charts home with them when they have reached their reading goals and sharing this achievement with their parents. The parents of your students will appreciate the extra effort that you have put into promoting reading in your classroom.
These puppy reading sticker charts include 6 colored templates and two black and white templates to choose from. These puppy reading sticker charts measure 6 inches in width and 10 inches in height.
I have designed the boxes inside the sticker chart to fit the standard small stickers that many teachers use. If you do not have these small stickers, you can draw a smiley face or place a check mark inside each box.
I personally like to print out the color templates, and I make a class set using a variety of the 6 different colors. I give each student a puppy bowl and have them write their names on that line. Then, I cut out each colored template, glue a bowl over the puppy's paw, and then I laminate the puppy sticker charts. By doing this, later when I take the puppy reading sticker charts off of my bulletin board, the chart does not accidentally rip. I also think that it looks impressive to parents to send home these colored laminated sticker chart templates when they are completed so that my students can post them in their bedroom, or on the refrigerator, as a sign of their reading achievement.
I realize that not all teachers are able to print out color templates for each of their students, so I have provided black and white templates. You can have your students color their puppy reading sticker charts themselves using the black and white templates.
Below are examples of these templates:
Many teachers like to make classroom bulletin board displays featuring their students' sticker and incentive charts. Classroom displays of these Puppy Reading sticker charts will provide a strong visual reminder to your students of the reading goal that they are trying to achieve.
Bulletin board displays and preparing them take a lot of time for teachers. Many teachers spend their valuable time cutting out large display letters or making a banner on their own at home on their computer.
This time is valuable and better spent on developing your classroom curriculum and grading papers, so I have designed a matching 5 page display banner for your bulletin board. If you have access to a laminating machine, you can laminate your banner so that it is durable and you can use it year after year for your bulletin board display of these Puppy Reading Sticker Charts.
These Puppy Reading Sticker Charts are a wonderful way to positively reinforce your students for reading. If you want to take this a step further and recognize your students' reading accomplishments of achieving their goals, I have designed a matching student award certificate.
You can present this reading award to your students when they have reached their goal of reading 15 books. I have designed color and black and white copies of this award for you to choose from.
Your students will be excited to take their completed puppy reading sticker charts home with them, along with their reading award. Their parents will be impressed with the extra effort that you have put forth in positively reinforcing your students to read more books.
Below is an example of the matching student award certificate that comes with this sticker chart set.

Dog Book Report Set
$4.99
The above 5 page bulletin board banner is included in this Dog Book Report Set.
Dog Book Report: Your students will be barking with enthusiasm to start this reading project!
This dog shaped reading response set will provide you with all of the teaching resources that you need for your students to write about the main character, climax, and conclusion of their story.
Traditionally, requiring students to write about the main character, climax, and conclusion is a task that most students find quite boring.
By using these uniquely shaped dog graphic organizers that contain writing components that are worded in dog language, your students will find writing about the climax and conclusion of the story fun, and they will complete these written responses with enthusiasm.
This dog book report set contains four worksheets with templates that assemble into a dog. The finished dog project measures 20 inches in height and 12 inches in width.
These finished book reports make a dynamic bulletin board display of your students' work. Everything that you need to complete these projects is included in this set. All that you will need is scissors, glue, tape, and coloring pencils.
There are 12 worksheet/template pages in this dog shaped book report set, as well as a 5 page color bulletin board display banner. There are 18 pages of dog related accent pieces for you to use to help you decorate your bulletin board display.
This set includes assembly directions on how to prepare and assemble this project. Below is a sample of the assembly directions page.
This book report set includes a grading rubric. Below is an example of my dog book report grading rubric:
I believe that the writing process is important and that teachers should use process writing whenever possible.
For this reason, my students never begin their book reports by writing on their final draft templates, instead they write on first draft worksheets. Then, they edit and revise their work on their own, with a partner, or in individual writing conferences with me.
This dog book report set is divided into three writing sections:
Main Character: (dog ears) Write a description about the main character.
Something Worth Barking About! (Climax) (dog body Part 1): The climax of the story is the point of greatest interest or suspense in the story. It is the turning point in the story where the action reaches its peak. The climax is usually the most exciting part of the story and something worth barking about!
A Tail Wagging Event! (Conclusion) (dog body Part 2): The conclusion of the story is when the main character solves the problem. The story usually ends happily and it is a tail wagging event!
Dog Bowl: Title of Book and Illustration
Dog Paws: Author, Genre, Name, and Date
Due to spelling differences in English (words like color/colour and favorite/favourite), there are two sets of downloads for these worksheets. You can select the spelling that is used in the country that you are from.
This set contains two worksheets for students to write their first drafts on. On my first draft worksheets, I have designed the writing line spaces to match the spaces allotted on the final draft dog templates.
Below is an example of the first draft writing worksheets for this dog book report set.
This set includes 4 worksheets with templates that assemble into the shape of a dog. The finished dog book report measures 20 inches in height and 12 inches in width.
Below is the head template where students write a description about the main character in the dog's ears. On the front paws, students write the author, genre, their name, and date.
Below is the body template where students write about the Climax/Something Worth Barking About and Conclusion/A Tail Wagging Event.
Below are the dog's back legs and tail templates.
Below is the dog's bowl template where students write the title of the book and draw an illustration.
When I am first introducing my students to a new book report project, I believe that it is important for them to have a visual example of what their final draft book report projects should look like. I always assemble the project myself beforehand and display it at the front of my classroom for my students to see.
My students enjoy seeing my dog project first. They also enjoy hearing about the book that I chose to do my book report on, and this gives me a great chance to promote a book that I would like to encourage my students to read.
To save you time in coloring your example that you show your students, I have included color dog templates of this project for you to use.
EXTRA GOODIES #1: For some of my book report sets, I am able to think of, and create, additional accent pieces to help you in decorating your bulletin board displays.
This Back to School classroom displays set includes 4 title dog templates that you can assemble together to use as an accent piece on your dog bulletin board display.
EXTRA GOODIES #2: I have designed six (one page) reading bone posters that you can cut out that contain slogans to promote reading.
The 4 bone reading posters say:
Reading Books is a Real Treat!
Make No Bones About: We Love Reading Books!
Bite Into a Good Book Today!
Our Dog Book Reports
Climax of the Story: Something Worth Barking About!
Conclusion of the Story: A Tail Wagging Event
EXTRA GOODIES #3: I have designed three (one page) reading ball posters that you can cut out that contain slogans to promote reading.
The 3 ball reading posters say:
It's a BALL Reading Books!
Have a BALL Reading Today!
It's a BALL Doing Book Reports!
EXTRA GOODIES #4: I have designed reading dog toys and paws to include as smaller accent pieces in this set.
I hope that these four EXTRA GOODIES that are included in this book report set help save you time in decorating your dog reading bulletin board display.
You will be able to design a colorful and dynamic bulletin board display using your students' finished dog book report projects.
These dog graphic organizers are a unique and fun way to get your students excited about completing a writing assignment about the books that they have read.
The writing responses that are required of your students will make them think and write about the climax and conclusion of the story in a challenging and engaging way. In addition, this book report set includes dog themed accent pieces to help you in decorating your bulletin board display.
I hope that your students will bark with enthusiasm as they complete these dog book reports!
As your students are reading these 15 books and completing their Puppy Reading Sticker Charts, I would encourage you to have your students respond in writing to some of these books. Many students find one page worksheet response sheets very boring.
For this reason, I created a variety of different types of book report projects for my students to complete after they have read a book. Instead of being bored, my students are excited and engaged when they are completing their book report templates and projects. My students look forward to doing these projects and ask me when they get to do their next project. By combining reading incentive charts and creative book report projects, my students have been very enthusiastic about reading books independently.
If you are looking for some creative ideas for how your students can respond to the books that they have read, please check my web page that is dedicated to unique and one of a kind book report templates and projects. On the right you will see an example of my Cheeseburger Book Report Project.
