English Awards and Certificates: Welcome to my student awards and certificates section of Unique Teaching Resources that focuses on
reading and writing awards.
On this page, you will find awards to present
to your students for achievement in the area of language arts.
I have designed reading, spelling, creative writing, and
improvement English award certificates.
In addition to rewarding your students for excellence in language arts,
remember to focus on rewarding students of lower ability who have shown
improvement and effort in English.
By acknowledging these students for
their achievements, you are boosting their confidence and giving them
positive reinforcement to continue working hard at their ability level.
All of the printable student award certificates that are found on this page
contain a color template of the award and a black and white template of the award.
In order to save space on this page, I have only shown examples of the color templates.
I have designed my English award certificates with a large border around them so that
they are easy for you to cut out. You may want to laminate your awards so that they are
more durable and look even more impressive.

I encourage my students to read a wide variety of different genres by having them record each
book that they read using one of my unique incentive and sticker charts:

For each book, students fill out the pages in their reading passports by writing a summary about the book and drawing a picture. Then, students color that continent on their world maps.

Printable English Award Certificates: Creative Writing
This is a creative writing award that you can present to your students for
writing stories, poems, or journal responses for
creative writing prompts.
In general, I have found that most of my students are weaker in the area of written expression than
they are in reading comprehension.
For this reason, the majority of the fun projects and templates that are
found on my website focus on the entire writing process. Students begin by writing
a first draft and then they edit and revise their work. For the last step,
my students complete a fun final draft project. Instead of being bored with writing assignments,
my students are engaged, on task, and using their best effort.

I have designed
two versions of this certificate, one for boy students and another for girl students.
This is a reading improvement award that you can present to your students for
improvement in reading fluency, comprehension, expression, or effort. By acknowledging a student for her improvement in the area of reading,

during an English unit on newspapers and writing newspaper articles.
I present this award to my students after they have written and designed their own newspapers
using my extra large (18 inches by 12 inches)
biography book report newspaper projects (shown below).

Printable English Award Certificates: Reader's Theater Award Certificate
Reader's Theater is a dramatic presentation of a written work in a script form.
The scripts are held by the readers and the lines are not memorized. The focus
is on reading the text with expressive voices and gestures. Reader's theatre makes
comprehending the text meaningful and fun for the students!
Since there are two ways to spell
theatre/theater, I have provided copies of the awards with both of these ways of
spelling this word.
